Why should I have a home commercial energy audit / EPC)?
Domestic and commercial buildings available to buy or rent in the UK must have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). Buyer are now paying analysing EPC before buying or renting commercial properties. Ones with poor rating are at disadvantage. If you cannot or refuse to provide a potential buyer or tenant with a valid commercial EPC report, you could be subject to enforcement by your Local Authority Building Control department. You could be charged a penalty fine which could be any sum between £500 to £5,000. Add to this the very real risk of being banned from letting your property should your energy rating fall short after April 2018 and your business could be at risk.
